MORE THAN A SILVER LINING

We are unbelievably proud to have won silver for Excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Tourism at the 2021 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards held up on beautiful Kabi Kabi Country/Sunshine Coast on the evening of 18 March 2022.

Many people contribute their knowledge, wisdom, time, care, love, sweat and tears to this community venture and this is a win for every one of them – especially guides, Elders and staff – and the palawa community as a whole.

This award has come more than two decades after Clyde Mansell had a vision for developing an Aboriginal owned and operated experience on Country that provided young palawa/pakana with the opportunity to engage and connect with their culture and to share it with others.

That goal has already been achieved but receiving national acknowledgement of that is a real boost. As Uncle Clyde texted that evening from his home in Launceston following the announcement: “really pleased for the group”.

Huge congratulations to gold winner Spirits of the Red Sand and to Go Cultural Aboriginal Tours and Experiences for their bronze. We were also honoured to stand alongside other finalists Dingo Dreaming, Bularri Muurlay Nyanggan - 2 Path Strong and Angkerle Atwatye - Standley Chasm.
