Invasion Day Rally 2022

This year, the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre once again hosted the Invasion Day Rally in nipaluna (Hobart). Community members and a growing number of supporters typically march the streets. Last year the rally was held at Parliament House Gardens due to the pandemic-related restrictions. This time it was an online event in order to keep community and supporters safe from COVID19.

Nala Mansell was MC and performers and speakers included Sinsa Mansell, Aunty Cheryl Mundy, Grace Tame (Australian of the Year), Jessica Munday (Secretary of Unions Tas), Michael Mansell, Dewayne Everett Smith and Rodney Gibbins.

The live event, from 11:45am to 1pm, took place at piyura kiting (Risdon Cove) and began with dance ceremony, Welcome to Country and a minute of shared silence to honour the Aboriginal lives lost during and following the time of invasion.
