our homeland
After we introduce you to our Country, we begin the hiking element of wukalina Walk through bushland full of melaleuca and banksia.
From the summit of Wukalina you’ll be able to see our cultural landscape which extends all the way out over our sea Country to Tayaritja (Bass Strait Islands).
Our final night is on the most northern headland of Larapuna (Bay of Fires). For the past 250 years this area has been referred to as Bay of Fires, since English navigator Tobias Furneax counted over 200 fires along the coastline. You will learn more about this history from our perspective, including the importance of cultural burning practices, and other fires that would have been documented and sighted during this time.
There’s so much more to know about our intensely beautiful homeland but the only way to properly share our knowledge is being with you on Country.
