Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan launch at the Elders

During Reconciliation Week in May/June this year, TasNetworks launched their Reflect Reconciliation Act Plan at the Elders Council of Tasmania Aboriginal Corporation.

For TasNetworks, “reconciliation is about building respect, relationships and opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We were honoured to celebrate our launch at the Aboriginal Elders Council in Launceston, and are incredibly grateful for the trust in our intent and commitment to respecting their Country and culture.” You can find details of their RAP commitments and actions on their website.

Luana Towney was commissioned to create artworks for the document. “I was honoured to be the artist chosen to walk with TasNetworks and their new relationship with the Aboriginal community through the launch of their reconciliation action plan,” says Luana.

Food was provided by Aboriginal catering business palawa kipli.

Here are some images from the event on 2 June 2021 at the Elders. The first is TasNetworks’ Acting CEO Ross Burridge with artist Luana Towney and Chair of the Aboriginal Elders Council of Tasmania Uncle Clyde Mansell. The second image is Luana Towney and Aboriginal Community Engagement Specialist Graeme Gardner at the podium. You can see Luana’s artworks, displayed on the stage, and groups of proud community members and TasNetworks representatives.
